Week 5: Philadelphia Eagles vs Buffalo Bills – 2011

Week 5: Philadelphia Eagles vs Buffalo Bills

Philadelphia Eagles are going into Buffalo Bills territory, and I am really nervous!

The “no name Bills” are sure making a name for themselves this season, especially with that huge comeback against the New England Patriots. To be honest, the only other time I paid any attention to the Buffalo Bills was when the signed T.O.

Their quarterback is Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Harvard boy, and apparently players with a high IQ can win in the NFL. Fred Jackson RB, Stevie Johnson WR who are these guys? Alright, we know a little bit about them from fantasy football, I actually have Stevie Johnson on my fantasy roster. But when was the last time you actually saw a Buffalo Bills game nationally televised?

Here’s an interesting stat, the Buffalo Bills are tied with the New England Patriots with 4th most net points in the league at a positive 37. Philadelphia Eagles net points is ZERO, yes zero, we’ve scored 101 points and allowed 101 points.

Here’s what we know about the Buffalo Bills, they had a really good start wk 1, but they were playing Kansas City Chiefs who has been performing horribly this season. Wk 2 they beat the Oakland Raiders, a mediocre team, Week 3 they beat the New England Patriots and proved they are capable of beating legit teams. The Buffalo Bills are for real, they are 3-0…. Then Week 4 they lose to the Cincinnati Bengals who have a rookie QB. The season is still young, and we don’t REALLY know this Buffalo Bills team yet. They beat the New England Patriots, one of the best teams in the league, and the following week lost to the Cincinnati Bengals one of the worst in the league. They did this back to back, they beat Tom Brady but lost to Andy Dalton So We don’t know what Buffalo Bills team is gonna show up and to be honest I don’t know what Philadelphia Eagles team is gonna show up. …. but if we play our cards right the Eagles still have a chance.

Other than Kansas City, all Buffalo Bills games have been within 3 points and could have easily gone the other way. However you have to give them credit either way for beating New England. This team has proven to step it up fourth quarter which means it could be a disastrous match up for the Eagles. Their strength plays right into our weakness. If the Philadelphia Eagles decide to actually perform in the 4th quarter then we could beat this team. If they end up playing like they have been these past 3 weeks then we are screwed!

Here’s what I want to see this week, more effective utilization of our pro bowl corner backs, when was the last time you heard their names outside of a missed tackle. Linebackers staying in their lanes getting off their blocks and making plays. Most importantly, Stop the Run! Fred Jackson is the 4th ranked RB in the league, therefore you do not want to give him any wiggle room. Offense, defense, special teams coaching the freaking grass on the field, everybody better step it up 4th quarter so we can get a much needed victory!
